GOOD FINDS // the BEST childhood history journals

As parents, we always imagine ourselves filling out our baby’s special moments and milestones throughout their years of growing up. For me, there was always a guilt and pressure of forgetting to record all the little things. You might be able to relate …unless you’re a pro-journaler, props to you!

Shortly before my first was born, I discovered Promptly Journals …and now, these journals are my go-to-gift for expecting parents. I have a few on hand at ALL times.

ONCE A YEAR PROMPTS = A TOTALLY DOABLE COMMITMENT

What I love about these Childhood History Journals is that it goes from pregnancy to 18 years old. You can keep the journals or gift it to your child when they enter the “adulthood” part of life, which so painfully gets here so much sooner than we all realize ..until it’s here. I am about nine years into these journals and there are SO many little mundane things I forgot about.

Each year on their birthdays, I spend some time reminiscing on things I would have otherwise not remembered. Now I get to forever relive them.

OTHER REALLY AMAZING PROMPTLY JOURNALS WE LOVE

JOURNALS FOR KIDS, CONNECTION, SELF-CARE, LOVE STORIES, ADOPTION JOURNEYS, TRAVEL JOURNEYS, PARENT-TO-CHILD JOURNALS, AND SO MUCH MORE

I can’t wait to snatch up the journals for my two big kids now that they’re able to write well and communicate their feelings in appropriate, non toddler-tantrum style ways.

My biggest fear as a parent is that the younger generation will not have the tools needed for true communication. We are overloaded with so much content on a daily basis and it’s difficult, as an adult, to navigate what my mind allows in and what I have to say no to. Our children will have a virtual world at their finger tips and it is our job, now more than ever, to teach them the simple, yet critical task of raw communication. These journals allow that.

THERE’S A JOURNAL FOR YOU, MY FRIEND.

You better believe we are partners and affiliates for this company. I have followed Jayne, the mom who started this company, for years and we are clearly fans. As a women/mother owned business …one who promotes parenthood, we love sharing other stories that resonate SO deeply with our values as business owners and parents.

GOOD FINDS // edible veggie-based finger paints

There’s this cute moment when you’re on the floor with your almost crawling baby with you mom or dad voice on high gear. You’re all “come on …you can do it.” Then that energizer bunny baby starts crawling …then walking. …then you’re walking into each room with a little heightened anxiety wondering what mess you’ll be cleaning up next.

….ALL of the movement paired with the hands to the mouth phase is enough to make ya earn bedtime, that’s for sure. Sisters and mothers, we’re navigating four kiddos between the two of us from ages one to ten. We get it!

What we LOVE for those little toddler years are projects that well, distract those tots long enough for you to drink your coffee while it’s still hot, send an email or two, or you know, maybe visit the bathroom without an audience (we get that too).

MEET VEGGIE BABY:
YOUR NEXT RAINY DAY PORCH PROJECT

Those four kiddos mentioned between the two of us - Reid is 18 months old and is one active little dude. …he’s into everything and still likes to taste test edible and non-edible things. So when we found the Veggie-Based Finger Paint, we were all thrilled. Reid is often in tow while we work up some behind the scenes magic for the coffee shop.

So entertaining this one is multitasking at its finest. It’s a vegan based finger paint that is, get this, TOTALLY EDIBLE.

DIRECTIONS
mix veggie powder at a 1:2 ratio
(we mixed just 1 teaspoon of powder to 2 teaspoons of water)
stir and let it sit for 5-10 minutes
…get to painting!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:
Pun intended, yes. Make all the fun you want. We like to have a “paint day” t-shirt on hand for anything that may leave its mark on clothes or let the babies go to diaper mode.

EDIBLE VEGGIE PAINT FOR TODDLERS

If you want to count it as a veggie serving, we’re cool with it.

GOOD FINDS // kids art supply storage

Between the two of us, we are one part arts degree and one part elementary education degree. So we’re excited about this post. We’re sharing a couple of our favorite Good Finds (all on Amazon today) when it comes to art supply storage for your little ones. Now, we’re all for those sticky beautifully little messes. We’re here for the finger painting. We’re here for the projects. …but we like to find storage and organizational solutions that are, well, pretty.

For us, it’s got to be aesthetically pleasing.

During the summer months, we like to set up spaces at home for an easy, ready-to-go arts and crafts space. This same space is typically altered a bit when school starts but provides the same sense of a creative space for our little ones (that aren’t messy or aesthetically unpleasing to the eye).

BY THE WAY
We are not affiliates for these products. We just love them and personally own them. If we are affiliates or partners with anything we post, we’ll let you know but opinions are all our own! We’re just passing the love along.
